Google has just signed a partnership agreement with Intel and Sony that will see a television platform developed bringing the Web to lounge rooms around the world through a new set-top box platform. It looks like the deal will be benefit all three partners, especially Sony who have long been looking for an edge over its less expensive competitors. This article outlines the plan that will make surfing for social media sites like twitter as simple as changing a channel. In a further move, Google plans to open up the platform to developers of applications that will see the expansion of Google TV similar to that which occurred with cellphones.
